|David Weir, Executive Producer and Anchor of the South Florida Business Report, is a 42-year veteran of the radio and television broadcasting industry. Weir began his career in broadcasting with the Federal Aviation Administration where, as an Air Traffic Controller in the late-50's, he set up the first communications liaison between the FAA and the broadcast media. Weir moved to South Florida in 1964 and became a freelance writer for Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine and other publications. Two years later, Weir joined WPTV as an account executive and later became local sales manager.
In 1979, Weir was asked to launch WTVX, Channel 34, then a CBS network affiliate, where he became General Sales Manager. Also, while at WTVX, Weir wrote, produced and packaged over 50 thirty-minute "Polo Highlights" television shows that were aired locally and syndicated in the South American & European markets.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Weir lives on the intracostal in North Palm Beach, FL and while not devoting time to writing and producing the show, Weir is a self-admitted tennis junkie and spends his spare time on the courts.
